Wilderness First Aid (WFA), is tailored for outdoor enthusiasts seeking comprehensive first aid knowledge in remote wilderness settings. The course, spanning 16 hours, integrates real-life field examples with traditional classroom instruction, focusing on hands-on scenarios. It covers a broad spectrum of topics, including standardized patient assessment, musculoskeletal injuries, environmental emergencies, soft tissue injuries, and non-traumatic issues like asthma and diabetes.
Originally developed by SOLO Wilderness Medicine School in 1976, WFA equips backcountry adventurers to effectively respond to emergencies. Upon successful completion, students receive a SOLO certification card valid for two years. Students with an existing WFR card can re-certify through a WFA course.
